The pretty Georgian facade of Hill House conceals one of the oldest houses in the district dating back to the second half of the 14th Century. The timber framed house follows the typical layout of the middle ages. You can see the original well worn steps to the front door that lead straight into a medieval Wealden Hall which dates back to the 1380’s.

Hill House is the largest Wealden Hall in Suffolk, the North Hall having an en-suite bathroom and the South Hall has a private bathroom. There is also an upstairs sitting area which was once an enclosed courtyard.

There are many rare and original features which make the house of considerable historical importance at county level. These include original beams and ships timbers, Tudor wall paintings in the main hall and open fire places now with wood burning stoves.
